MEET THE PRESIDENT |
Kimberly Grandinetti Thank you for this opportunity to serve our association for the next year! I grew up and lived most of my life in the Quad Cities (Illinois side), but now call Ankeny my home. I have 3 kids – two of them are still living at home and one of them is definitely giving me gray hair! I am blessed in the fact that my son and my parents all followed me when I moved to Ankeny – so family is close by and we still get to have our weekly dinners together. In my free time I am a huge tv/movie person and DIYer…one day when I retire I plan to travel way more!!! |

I am currently the Environmental Health Director at Story County and have been here since 2021. It is a great place to work and I am fortunate to once again be in a department that includes more than just my name on the door! Our department isn’t big – 2 full time specialists, myself and a part-time administrative assistant. I began working in Iowa on 2018 for Jackson County and spent 21 years prior to that working in Illinois as an Environmental Health Specialist. During my time there I served on our affiliate “cousin’s” board in several capacities over the years and discovered my love for empowering and educating our professionals.
Over the years I have worked in a variety of the programs that fall under public sector environmental health. In Iowa those programs include; wastewater, drinking water, IAQ, pools and tattoo. While in Illinois I worked in those programs as well as housing, food service, body art, massage, vector management, and liquor/alcohol inspections. My best stories are definitely from housing and food related inspections – and strangely I kind of miss them!
